Preemie Newborn Kaylee Hat Crochet Pattern
This is such a precious preemie/newborn crochet hat pattern with a sweet heart embellishment! This hat is very simple and cute. If you are looking for a preemie pattern to use, to make several for donations this is the pattern to use!
The crochet hat pattern is sized from 1-3 pound preemies to 9-11 pound babies, so you can make this hat for any newborn you know, or make a bunch in different sizes to donate to a local hospital or charity that cares for little ones.
The little crochet heart on the side of the hat is easy to make and just adds to the level of cuteness – perfect for newborn photos! With A, ch 4.
Rnd 1: 11 dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped chs count as first dc), join. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st throughout), 2 dc in each st around, join. (24 dc)
Size 1-3 lb only – Rnd 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in each of next 3 sts, [2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 3 sts] around, join. (30 dc)
Sizes 3-5 lb [6-8 lb, Newborn] only – Rnd 3: Ch 2, dc in each of first 2 sts, [2 dc in next st, dc in next st] 5 times, dc in each of next 2 sts, [2 dc in next st, dc in next st] 5 times, join. (34 dc)
3-5 lb size only – Rnd 4: Ch 2, dc in first st, [2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 7 sts] twice, dc in next st, [2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 7 sts] twice, join. (38 dc)

BODY:
Rnds 1-4 [5, 7, 8]: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join. Fasten off. Weave in all ends.
HEART:
With B, ch 4.
Rnd 1: (3 tr, 4 dc, tr, 4 dc, 3 tr, ch 3, sl st) in 4th ch from hook.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
FINISHING:
Sew heart to hat using long tail.
