Extra soft light worsted weight yarn
- We recommend Sensations, Cuddle Muffin.
3-5 lb: ~35 yards of yarn for hat only, not for add-ons
G-6 (4.00mm) crochet hook*
Fabric scissors*
Yarn needle, to weave ends*
Gauge
4 dc stitches x 2 rows is 1″
*Change the hook size to obtain the gauge.
Notes
- Start in the same stitch as chain.
- (11 sts) means how many stitches you should have at the end of the row. That count does includes the chain.

Row 1: 11 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join in top of first dc (12 sts)
Row 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join in top of first dc (23 sts)
Row 3: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st* repeat * to * around, join in top of first dc (34 sts)
Row 4: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 4 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts* repeat * to * around 4 more times, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, join in top of first dc (41 sts)
Rows 5-9: ch 2, dc in each st around, join in top of first dc, do NOT cut (41 sts)
Stretchy Ribbing
ch 3 (continuing off the hat)
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining ch, sc secure stitch, turn (3 sts)
Row 2: blsc in each st, turn (3 sts)
Row 3: ch 1, blsc in each st, sc secure stitch, turn (3 sts)
Row 4: blsc in each st, ch 1
Repeat rows 3-4 all the way around the hat, cut yarn, fasten off, whipstitch (hand stitch) row 1 and last row together, weave ends
