It’s made up of alternating rows of single crochet, double crochet, and the bobble stitch. The rug also uses fringe detailing and decorative tassels to really make it stand out.

The pattern has you work the whole piece in a neutral gray tone.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials:

Hook(s) size: 6mm

Yarn weight: Worsted

Preferred type of yarn: Acrylic/wool blend

Suggested yarn: Plymouth Encore Colorspun – Natural (7596)

Yarn Yardage: 1060 yds

Tools – Scissors, tapestry needle, 4” piece of cardboard

Approx. finished dimensions:  Length: 43” Width: 25”

Gauge: 2” = 6 sc by 7 rows

Special notes:

  1. Ch – Chain, st(s) – stitches, sc – single crochet, dc – double crochet, yoh – yarn over hook

The pattern

Ch 71

Ch 1 does not count as a st

Row 1: Sc into the second ch from the hook and into each st across – 70 sts

Row 2-14: Ch 1, turn. Sc across – 70 sts

Row 15-18: Ch 1, turn. Dc across – 70 sts

Row 19-22: Ch 1, turn. Sc across – 70 sts

Row 23: Ch 3, turn. (Into the same st as the ch 3, yoh, insert the hook into the st, pull up a loop, yoh, pull through 2). Repeat 3 more times. Yoh, pull through all 5 loops. *Sc into the next st. (Into the following st; yoh, insert hook, pull up a loop, yoh,  pull through 2 loops) Repeat 4 more times, Yoh, pull through all 6 loops. Repeat this pattern from * across. – 35 bobble sts

Row 24:  Ch 1, turn. Sc into the top of the bobble st and then into the sc st; repeat across – 70 sts

Row 25-32: Repeat rows 23 and 24

Row 33-36: Ch 1, turn. Dc across – 70 sts

Row 37-51: Ch 1, turn. Sc across – 70 sts

Row 52-55: Ch 1, turn. Dc across – 70 sts

Row 56-59: Ch 1, turn. Sc across – 70 sts

Row 60-69: Repeat rows 23 and 24 – 35 bobble sts

Row 70-73: Ch 1, turn. Dc across – 70 sts

Row 74-88: Ch 1, turn. Sc across – 70 sts

Row 89-92: Ch 1, turn, dc across – 70 sts

Row 93-96: Ch 1, turn. Sc across – 70 sts

Row 97-106: Repeat rows 23 and 24 – 35 bobble sts

Row 107-110: Ch 1, turn. Dc across – 70 sts

Row 111-125: Ch 1, turn. Sc across – 70 sts

Fringe

Wrap yarn around 4 fingers twice. Using a crochet hook, pull fringe loop through stitch, pull the end of fringe through loop and pull tight.

Fringe Placement

    1. Across each stitch in the top of row 18, 35, 55, 72, 91. The fringe is worked around the post of the stitches.
  1. For tassels on ends of the rug, wrap yarn around 4” piece of cardboard 4 times. Repeat 5 more times for a total of 6 tassels. Starting and ending at the corners of the rug, place tassels approx every 12 sts.

Trim all tassels to liking. Weave in any ends.
