Preemie Newborn Panda Hat Crochet Pattern
Make an adorable panda hat for a zoo theme in your local NICU. Sometimes I love to make pom poms for ears.

Extra soft worsted weight yarn

- 3-5 lb: ~34 yards of yarn for hat only, not for add-ons
- 6-8 lb: ~43 yards of yarn for hat only, not for add-ons

G-6 (4.00mm) crochet hook
2 small white buttons for eyes
Small pom pom maker
Fabric scissors
Yarn needle, to weave ends

Nose
With black yarn,

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn (1 sts)
Row 2: ch 1, 2 sc in next st (2 sts)
Edging: ch 1, sc in each st around, 3 sc in each corner st, join in first st of round
- with black yarn and a yarn needle
- attach the nose a little above the ribbing of the hat
Ears (Make 2)
- with black yarn and pom pom maker
- make 2 black pom poms
- attach pom poms to top, sides of hat
Black Eye Markers (Make 2)
With black yarn,
ch 3
Round 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in same st, 4 sc in next st (turning to opposite side), dc in same st, 3 dc in next st, join in first st of round (12 sts)
- with black yarn and a yarn needle
- attach the black eye spots just above the nose
Eyes
- with white yarn, a yarn needle, and 2 small white buttons
- attach the buttons as eyes on top of eye black markers
