Newborn Flapper Hat Crochet Pattern

I call this hat the Newborn Flapper Hat because it reminds me of a flapper hat, although most people would probably call it a sun hat. I guess it could be either. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

Light worsted weight yarn (3-Light)

Light pink

I-9 (5.50mm) crochet hook

1″ button

Fabric scissors

Yarn needle, to weave ends

Gauge

3 dc stitches x 2 rows is 1″

Starting with light pink yarn,

Round 1: ch 3, 9 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join in first dc of round (9 sts)

Round 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join in first dc of round (18 sts)

Round 3: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st* repeat * to * 7 more times around, join in first dc of round (27 sts)

Round 4: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 2 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts* repeat * to * 7 more times around, join in first dc of round (36 sts)

Round 5: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 6 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 6 sts* repeat * to * 3 more times around, dc in next st, join in first dc of round (41 sts)
