It's that time of month again! Come meet my friend Sara from Posh Pooch Designs, as we sit here drinking our coffee, and playing with our hooks and yarn!
I will ask the questions, and Sara will tell us all about things crochet. I can't think of a better way to spend my morning!
Sara Sach: This sounds wonderful. I love to meet other Crochet and Knit Designers.
What is the first project you ever made? I do not have pictures of my very first project as it was a long time ago, but it was a baby blanket for one of my school teachers. It was not very good but she loved it.
What is your favorite crochet hook? My i Hook by The Crochet Dude. I love how it feel in my hand and it a great medium hook. It was one of the first Hooks I purchased a few years ago.
What is your favorite yarn? I Love Red Heart with Love. It is Soft and durable. There are a lot of ore expensive yarns out there, but this one is perfect for crochet or knitting and beginners to experts. And it is washable.
When did you start crocheting? I was always crafty, but I begin crocheting when I was 15. I taught myself to crochet and knit, from library books. It was a great stress reliever from the pressures of being a teenager.
Where is your favorite place to crochet and why? My favorite place to crochet is my back deck. We live in Colorado and the view of the mountains is amazing. It is quiet and tranquil. I always have 100s of ideas in my head that I can not shut my brain off, out on my back deck I can concentrate on just the project I am working on at the time…usually.
What is your most favorite project you ever made and why? That would be my Scoodie – Hooded Scarf with Pockets. It is super easy, fun to wear and works with just about any type of yarn.
What is your favorite crochet stitch? I often say my favorite crochet stitch is the Half Double Crochet – When a Single crochet is too short, and a Double crochet is too tall, the Half double crochet is just right.
What would be your crochet, dream come true? The truth is what I am doing right now is my “Crochet Dream Come true”. I love designing patterns, playing with yarn, getting to know others who love what I love, and love what I do. “Yarnie People” are the best people in the world. And I get to do all this in the comfort of my own Home.
When did you know crochet was a passion of yours? From the very beginning. I learned to knit and Crochet, but I was more drawn to crochet because it was quicker and easier to manipulate the designs.
What crochet designer do you admire most? My Daughter, Elisabeth Spiver of Calleigh's Clips and Crochet Creations is who I admire the most. She has amazing talent and art for designs. She has built her business to the point that she could stay home with her children, and now that they are in school she can be active in the school, and help pay for the things they want and need.
Do you have any advice for crocheters? My advise is to be original and find your own niche. There are a lot of people out there doing the same thing. Find the area you shine in, yes, you can change and grow as you do, but don't try to ride on other designers “coat tails”. I have seen a lot of Crochet designers come and go because they couldn't find there niche. Do What You do best.
