Materials
Bulky weight yarn (5-bulky)
- We suggest Lion Brand, Alpine Wool, Vanilla yarn
K (6.50mm) crochet hook
Fabric scissors
Yarn needle, to weave ends
Gauge
3 sc stitches x 2 rows is 1″
*Change the hook size to obtain the gauge.
Notes
- (11 sts) means how many stitches you should have at the end of the row. That count does NOT include the chain.
Special Stitch
Single crochet secure stitch– is when you take the hook in project, yarn over, take the hook back through the stitch, take the hook in the next stitch, yarn over, take the hook back through the stitch, yarn over, take hook through all remaining loops on the hook. Or single crochet decrease, attaching ribbing to hat.

Cowl
Starting with cream yarn,
Row 1: ch 15, dc in each st across, turn (13 sts)
Rows 2-79: ch 2, dc in each st across, turn (13 sts)
Round 80: ch 3, *sk st, dc in next st, ch 1* repeat * to * 5 more times across, sk st, dc in next 2 sts, turn (13 sts)
Round 15: ch 2, dc in each st across, join in top of first dc, do NOT cut yarn (13 sts)
Ribbing
ch 4 (continuing off the scarf)
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining ch, sc secure stitch, turn (4 sts)
Row 2: blsc in each st, turn (3 sts)
Row 3: ch 1, blsc in each st, sc secure stitch, turn (4 sts)
Row 4: blsc in each st, ch 1 (3 sts)
Repeat rows 3-4 to end of row, cut yarn, fasten off, weave ends

I believe it took be just over 2 skeins of the suggested yarn to make that scarf. I can’t be 100% positive until I get to revamping that pattern though.
