Child Makenzie Bun Hat Crochet Pattern
You’ve been asking for a Child Puffy Bun Hat, and here it is!
Child (fits most 4-12 year old)
19 3/4″ circumference (yarn should stretch)
8″ long from top hole of the hat to bottom?
*These are our finished measurements. If yours don’t fit within these measurement, please check your gauge.
Worsted weight yarn (medium-4)
- Patons, Classic Wool Worsted, Dark Grey Mix yarn, about 210 yards
I-9 (5.50mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle, to weave ends
3 sc stitches x 3 rows is 1″
*Change the hook size to obtain the gauge.
- You can always chain 14 instead of using a ponytail holder.
- (11 sts) means how many stitches you should have at the end of the row. That count does NOT include the chain.
Single crochet secure stitch– is when you take the hook in project, yarn over, take the hook back through the stitch, take the hook in the next stitch, yarn over, take the hook back through the stitch, yarn over, take hook through all remaining loops on the hook. Or single crochet decrease, attaching ribbing to hat.
puff stitch-pull up 3 times for a puff stitch.
blsc-back loop single crochet
sc secure st-single crochet secure stitch
puff st-puff stitch
*This pattern is written in American Crochet Terms.
I used this pattern with worsted weight yarn and an I-9 (5.50mm) hook. When you come to round 5 do this instead:
Round 5-11: slst in next st, ch 2, puff st in each st around, join in first puff st of round (Do not cut yarn.) (30 sts)
It says ch 6, for the child size it needs to be ch 5 instead. Continue the pattern as written.
If you decide to make the bow, continue as written, no changes.
