Sizes Included

1-3 lb: 8.5-9″ circumference, 3.5-4″ length

3-5 lb: 11-11.5″ circumference, 4-5″ length

6-8 lb: 12-12.5″ circumference, 5-6″ length

9-11 lb (Newborn): 13-14″ circumference, 6-6.5″ length

Materials

Extra soft worsted weight yarn

  • We recommend Lion Brand, Vanna’s Choice.
  1. Brown*
  2. White*
  3. Light Pink (optional)
  • 1-3 lb: ~ 17 yards of yarn for hat only, not for add-ons
  • 3-5 lb: ~34 yards of yarn for hat only, not for add-ons
  • 6-8 lb: ~43 yards of yarn for hat only, not for add-ons
  • 9-11 lb (Newborn): ~51 yards of yarn for hat only, not for add-ons

Fabric scissors*

Yarn needle, to weave ends*

3 dc stitches x 2 rows is 1″

Start with brown yarn.

ch 3

Row 1: 11 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join (12 sts)

Row 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join (23 sts)

Cut yarn and change to white yarn.

Row 3: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts* repeat * to * 7 more times around, sc in last st, join (30 sts)

Cut yarn and change to brown yarn.

Row 4: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (30 sts)

Row 5: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (30 sts)

Cut yarn and change to white yarn.

Row 6: ch 1, sc in each st around, join (30 sts)

Cut yarn and change to brown yarn.

Row 7: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (30 sts)

Start with brown yarn.

Cut yarn and change to white yarn.

Row 5: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (46 sts)

Cut yarn and change to brown yarn.

Cream Of The Crop Crochet ~ Preemie/Newborn Football Hats {Free Crochet Pattern}

1-5 lb Hats Embellishment
  1. With white yarn and a yarn needle.
  2. Take the yarn down the front middle of hat in between the two white stripes.
  3. Then on top and bottom of white line you just made.
  4. Cut and tie ends, weave ends.
6-11 lb Hats Embellishment
  1. With white yarn and a yarn needle.
  2. Take the yarn down the front middle of hat in between the two white stripes.
  3. Then on top and bottom of white line you just made.
  4. Then go in the middle of the first white line you just made.
  5. Cut and tie ends, weave ends.
Flower (optional)
  1. Using this flower pattern (I didn’t use the leaf part of pattern.) with white worsted weight yarn, 1″ button and a G hook
  2. Attach flower on left side

Bow (optional)

  1. Using this bow pattern with light pink worsted weight yarn and a G hook
  2. Attach bow on front, towards the top part of the hat.
