This sweet little giraffe crochet hat is great to make for any baby in your life.
It’s sized for a preemie to a newborn up to 11 pounds and has cute ears, horns, and other details that make it perfect for a newborn photoshoot with an animal theme, or just for a little one to wear when they’re feeling a little wild.
The newborn crochet hat could be worked in different colors and with different features to look like an alien or some other wild thing as well if you wanted.

Snout
Row 1: With white, ch 3, 7 dc in 3rd ch from hook, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st across, turn.
Edging: Ch 1, sc in evenly around snout, join. Fasten off; weave in ends.
Sew the snout just above the ribbing on the hat.
Eyes
Sew black buttons just above the snout with white yarn.
Horns (make 2)
Rnd 1: With white, ch 2, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join. (4 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st, join. (8 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join.

Sew the ears to the top of the hat next to the horns.
Bow
Row 1: With pink, ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each st across, turn. (9 sts)
Row 2-4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Edging: Ch 1, sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st of row, *rotate to work along next side, sc in each st or row end across next side, 3 sc in corner, repeat from * 1 more time, sc in each remaining st, join. Fasten off; weave in ends.
Pinch the middle of bow together.
With pink yarn and a yarn needle wrap yarn around the middle of the bow tightly. Tie both ends together. Sew onto hat.
