Round 1: ch 3, 10 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join in first dc of round (10 sts)

Round 3: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st* repeat * to * around, join in first dc of round (30 sts)
Round 4: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 2 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts* repeat * to * around, join in first dc of round (40 sts)
Round 5: ch 2, shallow post st around, join in first st of round (40 sts)

I can’t seem to get row 11 to work out at 59 stitches from the previous 40 from round 10.
Row 11 ch 2, 2 dc in first stitch, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 stitches same all way round. Join in first dc of round 59 sts.
I have done it 6 times and still not working out.
Is the shallow post stitch front or back post?
